Frequently Asked Questions
1 How does the CLLEEN™ VAP Unit work?
CLLEEN™ uses a FILTERLESS technology. It is a proprietary evaporation method, using no filters. CLLEEN’s™ system simply evaporates seawater or wastewater down to pure H20 vapor, released to atmosphere, and the dry salts are collected in a roll-off box, at a rate of 136 m3/day (25 gallons per minute) per reactor.
2 How does Reverse Osmosis Work?
Reverse Osmosis (RO) works on a filter system. The RO membrane acts as a barrier to all dissolved salts while allowing water molecules to pass through the membrane. This requires filters, membranes, chemicals and high maintenance.
3 With the CLLEEN™ VAP System, does one need to purchase many consumables on an ongoing basis as with an RO System?
NO – CLLEEN™ does NOT use filters or membranes, nor does it require pre-treatment chemicals etc. This represents a significant cost saving to any water treatment operation. Normal maintenance costs such as pump seal replacement is covered with our lease warranty. This is a requirement for any desalination or wastewater treatment system.
4 How does the CLLEEN™ VAP Unit compare with other Water Treatment Systems
It is the only commercial evaporator that can take any water or wastewater down to dry salts in one step, at a rate of 25 gallons per minute, per reactor. It is a mobile water disposal method. There is no liquid water product for reuse.
5 What power source does the CLLEEN™ Water Treatment Unit use?
The CLLEEN™ VAP Unit uses electrical energy, requiring 100 amps at 240 VAC per reactor, plus 75 cfm of air at 80 psi, so no thermal energy or other sources are necessary. It can receive 240 VAC from a transformer, diesel generator, natural gas generator, solar, and other sources.
6 What is CLLEEN’™ VAP’s rate of water evaporation.
1 CLLEEN™ VAP unit can evaporate 25 gallons per minute, per reactor, and 4 reactors are placed on a 30-foot gooseneck trailer for an evaporation rate of 100 gallons per minute of wastewaters, such as oil and gas produced water, landfill leachate, mine tailings dams, and other saltwaters. Currently, CLLEEN VAP can evaporate fresh water (for storm surge and other low-salt-content waters, at a rate of 12.5 gallons per minute.
7 How efficient is the CLLEEN™ VAP Unit System at evaporating water?
CLLEEN™ VAP is the only system in commercial production that can take any wastewater down to dry salts, without making a brine or other liquid water stream needing further treatment or alternative disposal.
8 What applications can the CLLEEN™ VAP Unit be used for?
The CLLEEN™ VAP commercial skid can treat
- Oil and Gas frac water
- Abandoned and active mine discharge
- Bore water
- Seawater brine for coastal desalination
- Cruise ships
- Humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

9 Can the CLLEEN™ VAP Skid be used at any location?
Yes, the skid is gooseneck-trailer mounted so it can be driven to any location, remote or otherwise and used. Hence it’s applicability for remote areas, exploration sites, AMD site, humanitarian aid, disaster relief situations. Similarly, the skids can be stationary units and flat to the ground.
10 Can the CLLEEN™ VAP Unit be used for large scale water desalination facilities?
Yes most definitely and for significantly reduced costs to current disposal of brine from RO and MSF systems. Reduced costs include less for ‘set up’, consumables, maintenance, labor. CLLEEN™ VAP can be a complementary system to any RO system, or other brine-producing process because CLLEEN™ VAP eliminates the need for liquid water disposal, associated trucking costs, and deep well injection.
13 What are the dimensions of the CLLEEN™ Water Treatment Industrial Unit?
2.7m high x 2.4 m wide x 2.4 m long, per 25 gallon per minute reactor.
Please view Specifications Page for more details
14 Can the CLLEEN™ VAP unit be leased or rented on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis?
Yes, leasing is the predominant method of service treatment with wastewater-related businesses, including CLLEEN™ VAP.
